月曜日のPickUPチャンク
People from all over the world want to visit Uyuni at least once in their lives.
“at least once in one’s life”は「一生に一度は・人生で少なくとも一度は」という意味で、ぜひ経験すべき特別な体験・場所について語るときに使う。“at least”が「最低でも」という下限を示すため「最低でも一度は経験する価値がある」という強い勧めや感嘆のニュアンスが込められている。“once in a lifetime”（一生に一度の・二度とない）とは異なり、“at least once”は「一度以上でも歓迎」というニュアンスを持つ。人称を変えてin my life / in your lifeなど自由に応用可能。
日常会話での応用表現
– I’d love for everyone on the global team to visit our headquarters at least once in their careers. It really helps to see the full picture of what we do.
– I think everyone in this field should attend this conference at least once in their career. The connections you make there are invaluable.
– People from all over the world come here to experience this at least once in their lives. You’re very lucky to be here!
– I’m so glad we came. This is definitely a place everyone should visit at least once in their life.

火曜日のPickUPチャンク
To my surprise, it felt good.
“to my surprise”は「驚いたことに・意外にも」という意味で、自分の予想と異なる結果が出たときに使う定型表現。“surprisingly”と似ているが、“to my surprise”は「私個人の驚き」という主観的な感情をより明示的に示す。驚きの程度を強めたいときは“to my great surprise”（本当に驚いたことに）とも言える。”surprise”の部分を変えて“to my delight”（嬉しいことに）・“to my disappointment”（残念なことに）・“to my relief”（ほっとしたことに）などのバリエーションも重要。
日常会話例
– To my surprise, the client approved our proposal on the spot. I wasn’t expecting such a quick decision.
– To my surprise, the new system was much easier to use than I expected. I thought it would take weeks to get used to it.
– To my surprise, I actually loved the local dish. I was sure I wouldn’t like it, but it was amazing!
– To my great surprise, the famous temple was almost empty when we arrived. We had the whole place to ourselves!

水曜日のPickUPチャンク
The school still continued using raised letters, even though the students liked the Braille system.
“even though〜”は「〜にもかかわらず・〜であるけれども」という意味で強い逆接・譲歩を示す接続詞。though（カジュアル）＜ although（一般的）＜ even though（最も強い強調）という強さの序列がある。“even though”は必ず実際の事実・確認済みの内容を示す点で、仮定を示す”even if”と区別することが重要（even if＝たとえ〜だとしても／even though＝〜であるという事実にもかかわらず）。
日常会話への応用
– Even though the local team prefers the new system, headquarters has decided to continue with the old one for now.
– Even though the budget was tight, the team delivered excellent results on time.
– Even though I was exhausted, I’m really glad we went to see the sunset. It was absolutely worth it.
– Even though the reviews weren’t great, the food was actually delicious. I’d definitely go back.
